Last Sunday I met the cutest lady at Church and found out
that we both live in the Domain. If you know anything about me, you know I am
the worst friend maker in the world. I wonder if it is a major character flaw
to want to sit and watch television or if I am feeling extra spontaneous.… read
a book, instead of entertain. I wish it was socially acceptable to disclose
that your best talent involves a DVR.
However,
yesterday I thought I would step out of my comfort zone (GO ME) and go to Kona
Grill with my new friends. I was extremely nervous that this whole double date
would be a complete failure. Often times when meeting new couples my eccentric
husband will go off on 20 minute tangents about who knows what and all I can
think about is, “I hope they are interested, and we aren't scaring them off.”
My husband could get along with anyone and is super friendly, much unlike
myself.
Sometimes
I feel like meeting a new couple is like going on a blind date, all I can think
about is “Man, I hope they like me” and “I sure wish I don’t have anything in
my teeth.” Is it a bad sign when after our date the couple announces they will
not be in town for a couple weeks? Should I take a note from the movie He’s Not That Into You, and assume they
were letting us off lightly? Maybe I am being too hard on myself. We had a lot
in common, and although it is hard to admit I would have rather been eating
with that couple, then watching Criminal Minds.
