I have fallen into a Friday Coma and all I want to do is take a cold shower, sit with a face mask, and watch good t.v. Since I am usually in bed or studying by this time I have been oblivious to Jamie's Food Revolution. I am so impressed with the message and passion Jamie has for change in the way Americans view food. Now I do not proclaim to do a health food junkie, I will leave that role up to my husband. I believe in a little junk food indulgence every once in a while but I also believe we as food consumers need to be more aware of what we put into our bodies.
I am ashamed to say that I spend much more on what I put on my body compared to what I put inside my body. Or at least that is how my past habits have been. There is such joy that comes from cooking a good meal or finding great deals at the farmers market. But it can be so difficult when you get back from a packed day at work or school and all you want to do is lay down and have food readily available. So I have decided to study and look at how to plant a garden and make it a goal to be somewhat self-sustaining when Matt and I move to Corpus.
I hope we can demand quality food from growers instead of looking to save a buck or two. I know that if we demand grass feed beef instead of cows bloated with corn, and fruits and vegetables that are full of nutrients rather than chemicals, there can be a change. I love the idea of a Food Revolution. I guess I will have to give up my dino nuggets and cravings for buschs chicken.
